Ajax teen identified as victim of apparent double murder near Sarnia's Profile

A teenager from Ajax has been identified as the second victim of what police believe is a double murder near Sarnia.

On December 28, officers from the Lambton OPP Detachment were called to Enniskillen Township, just southeast of Sarnia.

They say human remains were located in the area.

A separate set of human remains were found in Sarnia the same day.

A few days later, police identified the victim in Sarnia as a 31-year-old man from Mississauga.

On Wednesday, the second victim was identified as Jelani Byer-Coates, 18, of Ajax.

Earlier this month, a Sarnia man was arrested and charged in connection to the two deaths.

Matthew Theriault, 42, faces two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of indignity to a body.

Anyone with information is asked to call OPP at 1-888-310-1122, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
