COVID-19 outbreak declared at Oshawa wedding's Profile

The Durham Region Health Department is urging anyone who was at a September 19 wedding at the Caribbean Cultural Centre in Oshawa to give them a call A.S.A.P.

They say eight people associated with the wedding have tested positive for COVID-19 and officials haven’t been able to get a full list of attendees or their contact information.

According to the department, around 50 guests and eight to 10 staff/volunteers were at the wedding, which took place at the centre on Wentworth Street East.

As a result of the positive cases, an outbreak has been declared related to this event.

At least two local workplaces that are associated with some of the positive tests have been notified and officials are following up with these organizations.

“We are reaching out through the media to help us make contact with anyone who may have attended this event,” said Dr. Pepi McTavish, Durham Region Assistant Medical Officer of Health. “It is very important that individuals who participated in this wedding contact us as soon as possible to allow Health Department staff to provide appropriate follow-up.”

If you were at this wedding, call 905-668-4113 ext. 2680 as soon as possible.
