Durham COVID-19 Update: January 14's Profile



There are currently 174 people in Lakeridge Health hospitals because of COVID-19.

Of those in hospital 16 are in the ICU.

There are also 80 patients in hospital under investigation for COVID-19.

There were 928 new cases reported in Durham on Friday.

However, the health department says recent changes to testing have led to a great underestimation of cases.

One new death was reported, bringing the death toll in the region to 396.

According to information on the health department’s data tracker the person who died was between the ages of 60 and 69.

Of those who died, 228 were residents of long-term care or retirement homes.

To date there have been 44,981 cases in Durham, with 36,908 of those cases now listed as resolved.

There are currently 7,677 active cases in the region.

The regional data for 196 confirmed cases is under investigation.

As of January 13, 1,296,720 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Durham.
