Durham COVID-19 Update: January 24's Profile



There are currently 173 people in Lakeridge Health hospitals because of COVID-19.

Of those people, 14 are in the ICU.

Lakeridge Health says 42 patients in hospital are being investigated for COVID-19.

The health department is reporting 234 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, 217 on Sunday and 142 on Monday.

However, the health department says recent changes to testing have led to a great underestimation of cases.

Four more deaths were reported, bringing the death toll in the region to 407.

Of those who died, 229 were residents of long-term care or retirement homes.

To date there have been 48,845 cases in Durham, with 39,926 of those cases now listed as resolved.

There are currently 8,512 active cases in the region.

As of January 23, 1,344,414 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Durham.
