Durham COVID-19 Update: March 8's Profile



Data on those in hospital and in the ICU with COVID-19 has not been updated by Lakeridge Health since March 2.

At that time were 29 people in Lakeridge Health hospitals because of COVID-19.

Of those people, two were in the ICU.

Lakeridge Health says 13 patients in hospital are being investigated for COVID-19.

The health department is reporting 50 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.

However, the health department says recent changes to testing have led to a great underestimation of cases.

Two new deaths were reported, bringing the death toll in the region to 447.

Of those who died, 239 were residents of long-term care or retirement homes.

To date there have been 53,703 cases in Durham, with 52,904 of those cases now listed as resolved.

There are currently 352 active cases in the region.

The regional data for 43 confirmed cases is under investigation.

As of March 7, 1,425,122 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Durham.
