Durham public health says it will be a few days yet before teenagers can book their COVID-19 vaccines.
The provincial booking system opened up to children 12 and older on Sunday. Durham – which uses a separate booking system – has not yet been able to make the change.
Officials say the guidelines were opened much sooner than expected, and officials have been scrambling to respond. Queen’s Park made the sudden announcement Friday afternoon.
Durham health adds that the first bookings for teens should be open before the end of the week.
The decision from @ONgov to open up vaccine to the 12+ population group was announced much sooner than was originally expected. As #DurhamRegion does not use the same booking system as the province, we are in the process of reviewing our current vaccine supply – which is the 1/3 pic.twitter.com/oXWgrVJhOA
