If you find a tick crawling or feeding on you or your family, hold on to it and call the Durham Health Department.
The department isn’t taking tick submissions for identification and potential testing right now.
The suspension is believed to be temporary.
Instead, call them and a public health inspector will tell you what to do.
If you have any symptoms of Lyme disease, call your doctor immediately.
There are many different types of ticks, but right now in Ontario, only the black-legged tick can spread Lyme disease.
