Durham police search for mail thief caught on camera in Oshawa's Profile

Police are asking for your help tracking down a thief who was caught on camera stealing mail from an Oshawa home.

Around 2:45 p.m. Monday, officers say a man riding a mountain bike approached a home near Highway 2 and Townline Road South.

He went up the driveway, got off his bike, then proceeded to steal mail right out of the home’s mailbox.

The postal poacher is described as: white, in his 20s, around 5’11” tall with dark hair and a slim build.

At the time, he was wearing a black baseball cap backwards, black shoes, jean shorts and a blue T-shirt. He was riding a mountain bike and carrying a grey backpack.

Investigators are also hoping to speak to two other homeowners who may be missing mail around Highway 2, between Keewatin Street and Townline Road South.

Anyone with information or who may be able to identify the suspect should call Cst. Pfaff of East Division at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2852, or report an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
