Durham reports 244 new COVID-19 cases on Friday's Profile



On Friday, 244 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Durham.

One more death was reported, bringing the death toll in the region to 317.

Of those who have died, 217 were residents at long-term care or retirement homes.

The number of COVID-19 variant cases identified in the region stayed the same at 149.

To date there have been 17,507 cases in Durham, with 145,034 of those cases now listed as resolved.

There are currently 2,156 active cases in the region.

Of those, 2,072 people are isolating at home and 84 are in hospital.

That’s the highest the number of COVID-19 patients in hospital there has ever been.

Twenty-eight of the people in hospital are in the ICU.

Some of the cases that were added to regional totals are from previous days.

The regional data for eight confirmed cases is under investigation.

As of April 15, 147,532 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Durham. Not including those doses given at pharmacies.
