Durham reports 253 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday's Profile



On Thursday, 233 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Durham.

One new death was reported, bringing the death toll in the region to 338.

Of those who have died, 217 were residents at long-term care or retirement homes.

The number of COVID-19 variant cases identified in the region rose by 14 to 207.

To date there have been 20,482 cases in Durham, with 17,820 of those cases now listed as resolved.

There are currently 2,324 active cases in the region.

Of those, 2,228 people are isolating at home and 96 are in hospital.

That’s the highest the number of people in hospital has been in the region since the pandemic began.

Thirty-one of the people in hospital are in the ICU.

The regional data for five confirmed cases is under investigation.

As of April 28, 194,208 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Durham. Not including those doses given at pharmacies.
