Federal government begins accepting applications for new Canada Recovery Benefit's Profile

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) says it’s resolved the technical difficulties that affected applications for a new federal benefit.

Starting Monday, Canadians missing work have been able to apply for the Canada Recovery Benefit (CRB).

The new benefit replaces much of the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB).  It offers $500 per week for up to 26 weeks.

Applications opened Monday, with some people reporting technical problems.  The CRA says those have been fixed.

About 700,000 Canadians are expected to apply for the new benefit.

The week prior, the government unveiled two other pandemic benefits for people missing work due to caregiver commitments or illnesses.
