The volunteer caretaker who was killed outside an Etobicoke mosque will be laid to rest today.
There will be a funeral for Mohamed-Aslim Zafis, who was fatally stabbed outside the International Muslim Organization of Toronto Saturday evening.
He was outside the front doors, making sure people were following public health guidelines, when he was approached by a man and stabbed in the neck.
The funeral is happening at the International Muslim Organization on Rexdale Avenue after early-afternoon prayers.
They say the incident has created fear in the community, but shouldn’t discourage people from coming to the service.
Police are still searching for the suspect and they say Zafis’ death may be linked to another fatal stabbing that happened nearby.
