Man arrested in connection with human trafficking investigation in Toronto's Profile

Toronto police say they have made an arrest in connection with a human trafficking case.

The investigation began in February.

Investigators say a woman was trafficked in the sex trade against her will through a number of means, including coercion, deception and physical control.

The man who allegedly trafficked her is said to have taken most of her money.

He is also believed to have assaulted her with a firearm and pointed the gun at her head.

Eventually, she was able to escape and contact police.

Geary Laing, 39 (pictured), faces several charges, including trafficking in persons, assault causing bodily harm, pointing a firearm and assaulting a police officer.

Laing is said to go by the nickname ‘Dookie’ or ‘Dukey.’

The investigation continues.

Anyone with information can call investigators at 416-808-7474, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477 (TIPS).
