A Toronto man is facing charges after allegedly trying to abduct a 12-year-old girl just east of Union Station.

Around 5:40 p.m. on April 23, police say the young girl was walking in The Esplanade and Lower Jarvis Street area.

Police say a stranger approached her and started asking personal questions about her age and where she lives.

The stranger asked the girl to go with him, but she refused.

On Tuesday, Roberto Armando Vasquez, 47, of Toronto was arrested. He’s charged with one count each of abduct person under 14-years-old and criminal harassment.

A photo of Vasquez has been released. Anyone with information should call police at 416-808-5100, or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477 (TIPS).
