York police say a man is facing charges after a potential hate-motivated incident in Vaughan.
Officers say on Sunday at 6:30 p.m., they were called to a report of a possible road rage incident.
Officers say the victim was driving in the area of Bathurst Street and Steeles Avenue when a red Range Rover cut them off and stopped in the middle of a live lane of traffic.
They add a man got out of the Range Rover and tore a Ukraine flag off of the victim’s vehicle and smashed a window.
Officers also learned that the suspect may be involved in at least one other incident in Toronto that happened the day before.
Police say the motivation for the Saturday incident is still under investigation as the suspect is not of Eastern European descent and suffers from a significant mental health issue.
For that reason the suspect will not be named.
Police just say a 32-year-old man from Markham is charged with mischief.
