More mosquitoes in Durham test positive for West Nile virus's Profile

The Durham Health Department is reporting more West Nile virus positive mosquitoes.

Confirmation of the latest positive mosquitoes was received on August 13.

The mosquitoes were collected from three trap sites; two located in Pickering, and the other in north Oshawa which was the location of a positive batch of mosquitoes previously reported on July 28.

These represent the second and third batches of mosquitoes to test positive for WNV in Durham Region so far this season.

Officials say with these positive results, it’s important to take precautions against mosquito bites and remove standing water from your property.
