More than 100,000 speeders caught on automatic speed enforcement cameras collecting data: Durham Region's Profile

Automatic speed enforcement and red light cameras are collecting data on Durham’s roads before they’re activated by the end of the month and the Region of Durham says many drivers need to slow down.

Over a 40-day period, one camera captured more than 100,000 vehicles travelling above the posted speed limit in a community safety zone on Simcoe Street in Oshawa.

Roughly one third of those drivers were travelling in peak traffic times.

Another camera on Bayly Street caught a driver going 196 km/h in a 60 zone, which is 136 kilometres over the speed limit.
