As part of the province’s $500-million dollar investment for the education sector, Pickering will be the home of a new public elementary school.
The exact location hasn’t been revealed, but Pickering-Uxbridge MPP Peter Bethlenfalvy says it will be called the Pickering Creekwood Public School.
He says the new facility will create student spaces as well as new, modern child care rooms.
“The funding for this new school is great news for our community,” said Bethlenfalvy. “This investment will provide a quality learning environment and new opportunities for the children of Pickering.”
Once open, the new school will offer 536 new elementary student spaces, 73 licensed child care spaces and four child care rooms.
“Our financing of the new Pickering Creekwood Public School further demonstrates our government’s historic investment in Ontario’s schools and our overall commitment to supporting our students and families,” said Education Minister Stephen Lecce.
There’s no word yet on when the school is expected to open to students.
