Ontario COVID-19 Update: February 19's Profile

The province reported 1,191 hospitalizations due to COVID-19 Saturday, 90 less than Friday’s report.

Of those patients, 329 are in the ICU, 23 less than Friday. However, Sundays tend to be undercounts as some hospitals do not report their bed counts.

There were 14 deaths announced. Another four deaths were removed due to a data cleanup.

It brings the death toll in the province to 12,247.

There were 2,244 new cases reported Saturday, but Public Health Ontario admits case counts are an underestimate of the true number of individuals with COVID-19 in the province.

The number of known active cases went down to 22,024, but that number is also underestimated due to the province’s testing limitations.

There were 14,174 tests completed the day prior to this report with a backlog of 8,427 tests.

The province is reporting a positivity rate of 11.8 per cent.

So far in Ontario, 31,467,215 vaccines have been administered.

According to the province, 12,547,921 people have at least one dose, 11,955,214 people have received two doses and 6,847,871 have three doses.

In Ontario, 89.54 per cent of eligible residents five and up have their first shot and 85.32 per cent have two doses.

Third doses are available to people aged 12 and up. In Ontario, 52.95 per cent of eligible residents 12 and up have three doses.
