The number of COVID-19 cases in Ontario Monday is down compared to Sunday, but reports from the weekend typically fluctuate.
There were 1,275 new cases of COVID-19 reported Monday, but Public Health Ontario admits case counts are an underestimate of the true number of individuals with COVID-19 in the province.
The number of known active cases went down to 29,173, but that number is also underestimated due to the province’s testing limitations.
The province is reporting 1,423 hospitalizations due to COVID-19, up 13 from Sunday, but Monday’s data is generally lower as 10 per cent of Ontario hospitals don’t report data.
Of those patients, 211 are in the ICU, 24 more than Sunday.
There were no new deaths announced, which leaves the death toll up at 12,842
The province is reporting a positivity rate of 14.0 per cent.
So far in Ontario, 32,782,620 vaccines have been administered.
According to the province, 12,636,927 people have at least one dose, 12,169,233 people have received two doses and 7,309,537 have three doses.
In Ontario, 90.18 per cent of eligible residents five and up have their first shot and 86.85 per cent have two doses.
Right now, third doses are only open to those 12 and up and 56.52 per cent have three shots.
