Oshawa’s firefighters are joining up with an Etobicoke charity to spread awareness of personal hygiene during the pandemic.
On Thursday, firefighters will be handing out ‘safety kits’, containing face masks, soap and other items.
The event goes from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Teddy’s Restaurant, at King Street West and Park Road South. Anyone in the community is welcome to come.
“Ensuring the safety of our community is what being a firefighter is all about,” said Peter Dyson – president of the Oshawa Professional Firefighters Association – in a statement. “We are excited to be able to partner with GlobalMedic to ensure our community members have the supplies they need to stay safe during this pandemic.”
GlobalMedic describes itself as a charity aiming to save lives by providing short-term, rapid response in the wake of disasters and crises.
