Oshawa grandfather planning to share $100,000 lottery win with family's Profile

A 70-year-old grandfather from Oshawa is $100,000 richer after winning the top prize in OLG’s Instant Hot Card game.

Douglas Robertson says he bought the scratch ticket on a whim.

When he revealed his six-figure prize, he initially thought he was losing his eyesight.

“I uncovered the ticket and asked my wife to take a look because it looked like I had won $100,000,” Douglas shared. “She told me ‘you’d better have it checked at the store, you’re blind!’”

So Robertson brought his ticket back to the store and “the lottery terminal began to sing,” he said with a smile.

He’s planning to use the cash to take his wife on a vacation, once it’s safe to do so.

Robertson plans to share the rest of his windfall with his kids and grandkids.

“The scenarios have been running through my head,” he added. “I don’t think I can fully accept it until the money is in the bank.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Tom’s Food Store on Nonquon Road in Oshawa.
