Oshawa grandmother wins $100,000 on OLG scratch ticket's Profile

An Oshawa mom and grandmother is $100,000 richer after a big win on an OLG scratch ticket.

Berrnadette Noel uncovered the big prize on an Instant 5X the Cash ticket while she was sitting outside on a warm afternoon.

“I played my tickets at home while outside relaxing with my dogs,” she shared. “I got to the last number on the ticket and when I uncovered it, the numbers matched.”

At first, Noel thought she had only won a few dollars.

“I thought it was a $5 win, so I used the OLG Lottery App to scan my ticket and saw the ‘Big Winner’ message,” she explained. “I leaned against the wall and slid down to the floor. I called my kids immediately, and my daughter came right over.”

Noel says she got so excited about the win that she got light-headed.

The retired ad sales rep says she’s planning to use her winnings to put a down-payment on a new home, then do some renovations.

“I’m going to use some for upgrades and work on my new home,” she shared. “This feels wonderful – like my fresh start. This year has been hard for me because I’ve lost three people in my life who were very close to me. I’m about to start a new chapter in my life and this feels like the perfect send off into my future.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Cubert Milk and Variety on Cubert Street in Oshawa.
