The Oshawa Santa Claus Parade is returning this year in-person.
It was in danger of being cancelled because of a lack of applications but Chair Jodi Hewett says now, the applications have been flowing in.
“Applications have been coming in daily and everyone is quite excited and jumping on board,” exclaimed Hewett. “I really believe that with COVID restrictions lifted and people getting out and about again, time just got away from everybody.”
She says there are more than 30 entries.
“All the floats and entries are all different,” said Hewett. “It will be an alright, fair-sized parade and we’re hoping that all of our community comes out to watch it.”
Previously, Hewett said they didn’t have any bands apply because many have not been able to practice throughout the pandemic. Now, she says the Royal Canadian Pipe Band will lead off the parade again this year, weather permitting.
The event itself is rain or shine.
When asked if the big man in red will be there, Hewett says he would never miss it and Santa will be joined by his reindeer.
The parade goes Saturday, November 19 and for more information, click here.
