Overdose-support phone line expands Canada-wide's Profile

If you’re concerned about the risk of overdosing during a lockdown, a Hamilton-based phone line is expanding Canada-wide.

The National Overdose Response Service (NORS) is a partnership between the Hamilton-based Grenfell Ministries and the Vancouver-based Brave Technology Co-op.

The project aims to help people in areas without safe consumption sites, or people afraid of visiting one due to the perceived stigma.

It connects callers with volunteers who can help them with an overdose plan.  The volunteers can also check in repeatedly and call for help if no one picks up.

As well, you can provide them with the number of someone nearby who has a naloxone kit.

You can call the Canada-wide toll-free line at 1-888-688-6677 (NORS).
