Peel police investigating after racist rant over masks at Mississauga grocery store's Profile

Video of an apparent racist tirade sparked over mask-wearing has fuelled outrage on social media and police say they’re looking into it.

Peel police are investigating the YouTube video, which was reportedly taken inside a T&T Supermarket on Sunday.

A man is caught on camera yelling at employees, refusing to wear a mask and repeatedly making references to “communism” and “socialism.”

He tells people around him that “you can all wear your masks, and you can all die… because when you wear the mask you get sick.”

The man carries on, blaming China for covering up the coronavirus and asks a store worker where he is from.

When the worker tells him he is Canadian, the man refuses to believe him and tells him the virus came “from you guys.”

Near the end of the nearly four-minute clip, the situation almost gets physical, with the man claiming he had been assaulted while pointing aggressively toward the employee.

Police say the matter is being investigated as a hate-motivated incident.
