People living with dementia in Whitby can get a free activity box from the Alzheimer Society's Profile

If you or someone you know lives with dementia in Whitby, the town and Alzheimer Society of Durham Region (ASDR) have teamed up to offer activity boxes filled with fun and educational materials.

Since many people are socially isolated due to the pandemic, ASDR is giving the free boxes to any person living with dementia or their caregivers.

To help their bodies and minds stay sharp, the box comes with exercise equipment, food guides, recipes, brain-testing activities and connections to community resources.

A formal diagnosis isn’t required to get a box, but participants must live in Whitby.

Activity boxes will be delivered by ASDR staff and volunteers.

The program is expected to run throughout the summer and into the fall, while supplies last.

To get a box, call the Intake Coordinator at 905-576-2567 ext. 5233 or 1-888-301-1106, or email intake@alzheimerdurham.com for more info.

In Durham Region, more than 10,000 people are currently living with dementia.
