About $17-million in federal funding will go toward a pair of net-zero infrastructure projects in Pickering.
The city is planning a 44,000 square foot facility for recreation programming, a library and a community museum. It will be located beside the Pickering Museum Village and will be the city’s first net-zero municipal building.
Officials say it will feature triple-glazed windows, solar panels, air source heat pumps and more insulation from the elements.
They will also be retrofitting the Redman House Program Centre with energy-efficient upgrades.
