Province reports 218 new COVID-19 cases and two more deaths on Sunday's Profile


More than 9-million Ontarians have now been fully-vaccinated against COVID-19.

On Sunday, 218 new cases were confirmed across Ontario.

There are 40 new cases in Toronto, 33 in Peel region, 23 in York region, 16 in Middlesex-London and 14 in Hamilton.

The province is also reporting 13 cases in Durham, but the Durham Region Health Department releases up-to-date stats each afternoon.

Another two deaths were reported, bringing the death toll in Ontario to 9,347.

Of the new deaths announced, none are from long-term care homes.

One of the deaths was a person aged 40-59 and the other was aged 60-79.

Right now, there are 110 people in Ontario ICUs with COVID-related illnesses, 79 of whom are still testing positive.

There are 155 more resolved cases in the province.

The number of active cases went up to 1,667.

There were 14,122 tests completed the day prior to this report.

A 1.4 per cent positivity rate was reported.

There are also 4,368 tests still under investigation, a decrease of 1,178 from the day before.

So far in Ontario, 19,519,781 vaccines have been administered, an increase of 60,583 from the day before.

According to the province, 9,035,335 people are fully vaccinated or have received both doses.

There will not be an update on Monday due to the holiday. That day’s statistics will be released on Tuesday.
