SIU investigating deaths following two separate incidents involving Toronto police's Profile



Ontario’s police watchdogs is investigating after the deaths of two people in separate incidents involving Toronto police.

Officers were first called to a home near Sheppard Avenue and Warden Avenue around 7:30 p.m. Saturday for an unknown trouble call.

A police negotiator arrived, making contact with the 41-year-old man. During the negotiation, the man sustained a serious injury.

Police helped the man until paramedics arrived. He later died in hospital.

Four investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.

Later, around 11:30 p.m. officers were called to a residence on Church Street after reports of a man being armed with a gun.

They say the 34-year-old man barricaded himself in the unit. Eventually, police went in. The man was found in medical distress.

Paramedics brought him to hospital, where he died shortly after.

Four investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.
