SIU investigating police-involved shooting in Oshawa's Profile



Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is looking into a police-involved shooting in Oshawa that left a man in hospital.

The incident happened around 6 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Simcoe Street North and Windfields Farm Drive West (south of Winchester Road). Toronto police were executing a number of warrants at an area home.

At some point, an officer allegedly fired a gun, striking a man.

Paramedics took him to hospital. As of late morning, he was still there.

The SIU is an arm’s-length agency that’s called in whenever a police-involved incident results in death, serious injury, sexual assault or the discharge of a firearm at a person.
