SIU will not charge Durham police officer accused of sexual assault's Profile

The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) says there are no reasonable grounds to charge a Durham police officer in what was alleged to be a sexual assault in Bowmanville.

The altercation happened on June 6.

According to the SIU, a woman alleged an officer reached into her vehicle to hand out a traffic ticket. At one point, the woman said he touched her inappropriately.

In his final report, SIU Director Joseph Martino wrote that there wasn’t enough evidence to prove that the incident was sexual in nature.
