Six Durham beaches not safe for swimming during Labour Day weekend's Profile



You can beat the heat at eight beaches in Durham for the Labour Day long weekend.

Durham health has released its final beach report of the year, determining that six locations are not safe for swimming. They say there are elevated E. coli levels in the water.

The unsafe beaches are Beaverton Beach (North and South), Kinsmen Beach in Scugog, Lakeview Beach West in Oshawa, Newcastle Beach Central and Paradise Beach in Ajax.

You’ll find warning signs posted at those beaches.

Officials say you should also stay out of the water for at least 48 hours after any heavy rainfall, since bacteria levels can increase due to run-off.
