Starting Monday, striking Unifor workers may cause more disruptions at Ontario Tech and Durham College’s north Oshawa campus.
Employees of GDI Integrated Facility Services are picketing.
They provide cleaning services for the campus, but they’re not university or college staff.
It means neither school is involved in the negotiations.

According to Unifor, the workers are striking over wages and benefits.
“During the pandemic, these workers were asked to put their health and lives on the line to keep educational facilities clean,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne. “They deserve a respectful living wage and economic dignity.”
Workers rejected to the company’s latest offer last Wednesday and hit the picket line later that day.
