Toronto ‘chair girl’ sentenced to community service, probation's Profile



The woman who plead guilty to tossing a chair off of a a balcony at a downtown Toronto high-rise has been sentenced to 150 hours of community service and two years probation.

Marcella Zoia will also have to pay a $2,000 fine for throwing the chair, which fell 45 stories and crashed to the ground near pedestrians, including a woman with a stroller.

No one was hurt but video of the shocking incident quickly went viral, with many condemning Zoia’s actions as reckless and extremely dangerous.

Judge Mara Greene, who oversaw the case, says the fine is significant.

Zoia, who was 20 at the time of the February 2019 incident, pled guilty to mischief endangering life.

However, she disputed that she was the one who uploaded the clip to social media.
