Toronto man charged with human trafficking; police worry there could be other victims's Profile

Toronto police have made an arrest in a human trafficking investigation, but officers are worried there could be other victims.

They say an adult woman was trafficked out of a Toronto apartment over the course of two days.

All of the money she earned was turned over to the man who allegedly trafficked her.

Police later searched the apartment and found a replica firearm and drugs.

Earlier this year, Shakkim Edward, 23, of Toronto was arrested.

He’s facing a slew of charges, including procuring, assault, trafficking in persons by exercising control, drug trafficking (heroin), possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, forcible confinement and advertising another person’s sexual services.

Investigators are releasing his photo in hopes that other potential victims will come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 416-808-7474 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477 (TIPS).
