Toronto police say an officer has been taken to hospital after an armed man intentionally drove into their cruiser.
It happened around 7:54 a.m. near Ellesmere Road and Gander Drive, east of Markham Road.
Investigators say the man behind the wheel crashed into the cruiser, then got out and pulled a knife.
He then allegedly walked circles around the police car with the weapon.
Police were able to arrest the suspect, though his name was not immediately released.
The officer in the cruiser was taken to hospital with unspecified injuries.
Roads in the area were closed down for the investigation, but have since reopened.
