A Scarborough man who was left seriously hurt following a head-on crash in Ajax is now facing a drunk driving charge.
The collision happened in mid-May, near the intersection of Taunton Road and Squire Drive.
Over a month later, investigators got a warrant for the blood samples that were drawn the morning of the crash.
Shina Samuel Adeymi, 38, is now charged with impaired operation of a conveyance – exceed blood alcohol concentration and operate motor vehicle without insurance.
According to police, Adeymi was driving a black Honda Accord on May 14, when he allegedly crossed the centre line of Taunton Road and narrowly missed a pair of oncoming vehicles.
Adeymi collided with a third vehicle, leaving a 22-year-old Oshawa man hurt.
Officers say both vehicles were totaled following the collision.
The Oshawa man was treated and released from a local hospital, while Adeymi was extricated by fire crews and rushed to a trauma centre.
Since being charged, Adeymi has been released on an undertaking.
