Two people in Durham Region are celebrating their lottery wins.

Feyazuddin Mohammed of Whitby won $1-million in the December 31 Instant Ultimate draw.

The winning ticket was bought at Friendly Variety and Videos, on Garrard Road in Whitby.

The public-sector worker is planning to pay off some bills, invest and plan his retirement.

“I had a feeling I was a winner,” he said. “As I was scratching my ticket, I told my wife, ‘This feels like a winner,’ and when I checked it using the OLG App after the draw, I froze when I saw $1 million appear on the screen. My wife and I were holding each other and jumping with joy.”

“I feel honoured to receive such a rare experience,” he added. “I feel a lot of gratitude.”

Meantime, Theresa Dusome of Oshawa won $50,000 on an Instant Bingo card.

“My partner bought me this ticket,” she said. “I found out I won as I was scratching the last row and shouted, ‘We won!’”

“I can’t wait to get the cheque,” she added. “What I’m feeling right now is indescribable.”

Dusome is looking to pay some bills, plan a trip to Las Vegas with her partner and keep the rest in the bank.
